A Stronger APC Begins With Unity: Nyerere Anyim Meets Obingwa Party Leaders.

OBINGWA, ABIA STATE — The Abia South Senatorial aspirant, Dr. Nyerere Chinenye Anyim, has called for unity, reconciliation and respect for party decisions among leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Obingwa Local Government Area.

Dr. Anyim made the call during a strategic stakeholders’ engagement held at his Agburuike country home, Obingwa, where APC leaders and stakeholders gathered to deliberate on the state of the party and the way forward ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting was attended by APC Local Government Chairman Chief Uzoma Ikeuka and his executives, 11 Ward Chairmen in Obingwa with their women leaders, youth leaders and other stakeholders.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Anyim, who contested the APC Abia South Senatorial primary, said the outcome of an internal contest should not become a reason for permanent division among party members. He acknowledged the party’s decision while noting that matters currently before the court should be allowed to follow due legal process.
«“I contested the senatorial primary, and although, I respect the decision of the party. We must learn to accept the outcome of our internal contests without turning political differences into personal hatred.”»
He urged members to reject factionalism and prioritise the collective interest of the APC, stressing that the strength of the party depends on the unity of its members.
«“Nobody should hate anyone because of who supported or did not support me during the primaries. The same respect we expect for ourselves must be extended to every aspirant who contested but did not emerge.”»
Dr. Anyim warned that continued infighting could weaken the party’s grassroots structure and create unnecessary opportunities for opponents.
«“If we allow ourselves to be divided, we will be the ones to suffer the consequences. We must not allow personal interests to destroy the party we have all laboured to build.”»
Making reference to the APC broom symbol, he added:
«“A single broom can easily be broken, but a bunch of brooms is stronger. Let us remain together as one political family. Our differences should make us stronger, not weaker.”»
He further called on leaders to reach out to aggrieved members, promote dialogue and rebuild confidence within the party.
«“We should support the APC as a party, not individuals. Our responsibility is to strengthen the party structure, reconcile our members and ensure that nobody feels excluded.”»
Dr. Anyim also emphasised the importance of discipline, mutual respect and collective responsibility, urging stakeholders to place the long-term interests of the party above individual ambitions.
Contributing to the meeting, Hon. Uche Nwankpa, Prince Nwangwa, Chief Solomon Ubani and Dr. Stella Ogugbue, among others, commended Dr. Anyim for convening the meeting at a critical period.
They assured him of their commitment to engaging members, resolving grievances and working towards greater unity within the party.
The meeting featured an interactive question-and-answer session, allowing participants to express concerns, offer suggestions and discuss practical steps towards strengthening the APC structure in Obingwa.
The gathering ended with a renewed commitment to dialogue, reconciliation, unity, respect for party structures and collective responsibility as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
