ABIA SOUTH 2027: NKWONTA ENDORSES IKONNE FOR ABIA SOUTH SENATE
AKWETE, NIGERIA
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress APC candidate for the Abia South Senatorial District, Prince Paul Ikonne, has received a major boost following his official endorsement by Chief Chris Nkwonta, the member representing Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency in the House of Representives.
The endorsement took place during a high-powered consultative visit by Prince Ikonne and members of his Campaign Council to Chief Nkwonta’s country home in Akwete, Ukwa East Local Government Area.
Speaking during the visit, Prince Ikonne stated that the mission was aimed at building strategic synergy and fostering unity to secure total victory for his senatorial ambition and the APC in the upcoming 2027 polls. He described Chief Nkwonta as one of the critical APC chieftains possessing the exceptional leadership capacity needed to guide the party across the finish line successfully.
“We are here to seek your support and collaboration as we approach the general elections,” Ikonne said.
“With the collective strength of stakeholders like you, the APC is well-positioned to sweep the zone.”
In his response, Chief Nkwonta warmly welcomed the senatorial candidate and his campaign team. He noted that Prince Ikonne’s entry into the Abia South senatorial race was timely and highly strategic.
Chief Nkwonta reassured the delegation of his full support and commitment to ensuring victory for the APC in the district.
Chief Nkwonta also stated that although he currently has an active lawsuit in court challenging the outcome of the APC primary election for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency, his loyalty to the party’s ultimate victory remains unshaken. He promised to mobilize his structures to ensure the party comes out victorious across all levels in 2027.
It is worthy to note that Chief Nkwonta is no stranger to the senatorial landscape, having previously run as a candidate for the Abia South Senatorial District in past general elections, a factor that stakeholders believe adds weight to his political endorsement.
The visit is part of Prince Ikonne’s ongoing, extensive consultations with critical stakeholders, Leaders and grassroots networks across Abia South.
Prince Ikonne was accompanied on the visit by members of his Campaign Council.
