“IGBO CAN NEVER BE PRESIDENT” — VIRAL VIDEO PUTS ALLEGED POLICE OFFICER’S REMARKS UNDER SPOTLIGHT
A viral video making the rounds online has triggered controversy after an unidentified man appearing to be a Nigerian police officer was allegedly heard making ethnic and political remarks about Peter Obi and the possibility of an Igbo person becoming President of Nigeria.
In the footage, the speaker reportedly dismisses Obi’s presidential ambition and makes further disparaging claims about him, his supporters and the Igbo community.
The officer’s identity and whether he is indeed a serving police officer have not yet been independently verified, while reports indicate that no official response from the Nigeria Police Force had been issued as of publication.
The video has nevertheless reignited conversations around ethnic identity, political neutrality and the right of every Nigerian to seek elective office.
Nigerian police officer caught on camera saying Peter Obi can never become president because he is Igbo
A video showing a Nigerian police officer making derogatory remarks about the presidential candidate Peter Obi and questioning his chances of becoming president because of his Igbo identity has surfaced online.
In the video, the officer claimed that Obi could never become president of Nigeria because he is Igbo.
He also made derogatory remarks about Obi and the Igbo community, alleging that an Obi-led government would turn Abuja into a hub for internet fr@ud and making other disparaging comments about the politician and his supporters.
The officer further made comments about Obi’s age and suggested that even if he won an election, he would not be able to serve a full term.
