2027: I MET WITH CATHOLIC YOUTHS IN ABA, ASSURED THEM OF BETTER REPRESENTATION IN THE SENATE

Today, I met with the leadership and members of the Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria (CYON), Aba Diocese, to discuss my aspiration to represent the good people of Abia South Senatorial District in the Senate in 2027.

The meeting provided an opportunity to formally share my vision for Abia South and discuss the importance of effective legislative representation in attracting development, creating opportunities, and improving the welfare of our people.

During our interaction, I highlighted the democratic benefits and opportunities that purposeful representation at the National Assembly should bring to our communities. I expressed concern about the development challenges facing Abia South, particularly the need for greater federal presence, improved infrastructure, and sustainable economic growth.

I assured the youths that my vision for Abia South is anchored on infrastructural development, youth empowerment, educational scholarships, job creation, and sustainable economic growth for Aba and the entire senatorial district.

I also encouraged the young people to look beyond political party affiliations when assessing candidates for public office. While political parties provide platforms for seeking elective positions, I believe that a candidate’s character, track record, capacity, and commitment to the people are equally important considerations.

As I emphasised during the meeting, we must look beyond party labels and pay attention to the individuals seeking our mandate, their records, and what they can offer the people.

I was particularly encouraged by the remarks of the President of CYON, Aba Diocese, Mr. Uchechi Nwokeke; the President of CYON, Church of Resurrection Parish, Mr. Onyedikachi Nzeocha; and Bro. Uzoma Anyiam.

They acknowledged my contributions to the growth of the Catholic Youth Organisation, the Catholic Choir, and the wider Catholic Diocese of Aba. I sincerely appreciate their kind words and recognition of my longstanding relationship with the Church and its youth community.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to strengthen our conversations around youth development, community engagement, and the role young people can play in shaping the future of Abia South.

The highlight of the meeting was a special prayer session led by the Chaplain of CYON, Aba Diocese, Rev. Fr. Ignatius Onyekwelu, who committed my aspiration, campaign, and journey ahead into God’s hands.

I am grateful to the leadership and members of CYON Aba Diocese for their warm reception, thoughtful contributions, and prayers.

As we look towards 2027, I remain committed to listening to our people, engaging with our communities, and pursuing purposeful, accountable, and people-centred representation that will advance the interests of Abia South.

Abia South deserves more. Together, we can work towards a future of greater opportunities, development, and prosperity for our people.
