2027: PRINCE IKONNE, BEGINS CAMPAIGN WITH CHURCH BLESSINGS, PLEDGES ACCOUNTABILITY IN PUBLIC SERVICE

ABA, NIGERIA

Ahead of the official kickoff of his political campaign for the Abia South Senatorial District under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Paul Ikonne worshipped at some catholic parishes to seek spiritual blessings and dedicate his 2027 senatorial ambition to God.

At St. Paul’s Catholic Parish, Abaukwu, in Aba South LGA, the Parish Priest, Very Rev. Fr. Cletus Ugo Chileke, a former seminary classmate of Prince Ikonne, described the candidate as an intelligent and kind individual who has consistently impacted lives positively since their days as seminarians.

Fr. Chileke highlighted Prince Ikonne’s long-standing philanthropy toward the Catholic Church, its priests, and the propagation of the gospel, specifically noting that he singlehandedly rebuilt the altar of God at Christ The King Catholic Parish in Aba.

The cleric urged the congregation to support the APC candidate, attesting to his devotion to humanity, God, and public service.

Addressing the congregation, Prince Ikonne clarified that his visit was not an active political campaign rally, but a personal decision to put God first before launching his official campaign.

Citing Isaiah 9:6 that the government of the earth shall be upon the shoulders of Christ which is the church; he argued that government leadership should ultimately be accountable to the church as the church represents Christ. He assured the congregants that his election to the Senate would help usher in true leaders who uphold this accountability in public service.

The service concluded with the parish priest and the congregation offering prayers of rededication for the candidate.

Prince Ikonne subsequently moved to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Parish in Umuozuo, Aba North LGA, where he participated in the children’s harvest service.

In his sermon, the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Nnaemeka Nwokoro, admonished Christian faithful to guide children properly and protect the vulnerable to build a better society. Fr. Nwokoro led the congregation in prayers for right leadership in Nigeria and extended blessings to the children, worshippers, and the visiting entourage of Prince Ikonne.

While introducing Prince Paul Ikonne to the parish, Very Rev. Fr. Obinna Sullivan Achilihu, another seminary classmate of Prince Ikonne, praised his exceptional qualities, courage, and extensive donations to the church, describing them as too numerous to mention. He recalled their days at the seminary when Prince Ikonne was the most outstanding goalkeeper that helped them win many football competitions noting that they are proud of who he has become and the work God is using him to do in churches across the region.

Prince Paul Ikonne assured them of his continued support in the mission of the gospel of Christ and service to humanity.

Prince Ikonne was accompanied to the parishes by a delegation of his friends and school mates, notable community leaders and political associates, including Chief Christaugunus Okechukwu Opara, Comrade Casmire Anukanti, Hon. Prince Adimchinobi Nwaigwe, Hon. Stanley Azuka, Deacon Enyinnaya Solomon, Hon. Onyedikachi Eberendu, Prince Innocent Jamike Ikonne, Prince Odinaka Nwaimo and others.
