ABIA SOUTH 2027: ASA WOMEN MOBILISE FOR TINUBU, IKONNE AND NWOGU AT THE INAUGURATION OF WOMEN SUPPORT GROUP
ASA, ABIA
Prince Paul Ikonne the All Progressive Congress APC candidate for the Abia South Senatorial District and his campaign entourage were well received at the country home of Chief Sam Okezie Nwogu in Asa, Ukwa West Local Government Area today as the women of Asa, Ukwa, under the umbrella of the IKONNE/SAMKEZ 2027 Women’s Support Group gathered for their formal inauguration.
The newly formed group declared its full support and commitment to campaigning for the 2027 mandates of re-election of President Bola Tinubu, Prince Paul Ikonne for Senator, Abia South Senatorial District, and Chief Sam Nwogu as Representative for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency.
The event commenced with a solemn church service led by Reverend Dr Kelvin Eleforo of the Assemblies of God Church, Ukwa.
Drawing his sermon from the book of John 2 focusing on the role of Mary the mother of Jesus during his first miracle at the wedding in Cana, the cleric reminded the women of their roles as mothers and great mobilisers noting that through them, more people would be convinced to support their choice of candidates.
He enjoined the constituents to support Prince Ikonne and Chief Nwogu, noting that when the righteous are in power, the people rejoice.
Reverend Eleforo commended Prince Ikonne and Chief Nwogu for placing God at the forefront of their political aspirations. He further urged the candidates to see themselves as true servants of the people once elected.
The clergyman led the congregation in a dedication prayer of both candidates.
Echoing the cleric’s sermon, Prince Paul Ikonne while inaugurating the leadership of the IKONNE/SAMKEZ women’s group charged them to leverage their unique capacity as mothers and community pillars to mobilise voters at the grassroots level. He assured them that their steadfastness would be rewarded with tangible dividends of democracy under their stewardship.
Expressing his gratitude for the massive turnout, Chief Sam Nwogu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency, highlighted his extensive track record of community service and long-standing philanthropic efforts, including educational scholarships awards to numerous Ukwa sons and daughters at various levels, employment opportunities secured for youths, community advocacy and sustained human capital development both as a public leader and private citizen.
Chief Nwogu promised to expand these initiatives significantly if voted into office during the upcoming general elections scheduled for January 16 2027.
A major highlight of the event was the traditional decoration of Prince Paul Ikonne and Chief Sam Nwogu by the women with traditional wrappers, sheathed machetes, and Bibles as powerful symbols representing community strength, leadership authority, and the guidance of the Word of God for the journey ahead.
The inauguration drew a large turnout of prominent political leaders of the All Progressive Congress APC, community leaders, and stakeholders from across the Abia South Senatorial District as a testament of the growing momentum of the APC in the region ahead of the 2027 polls.
