Wike Tells PDP Governorship Aspirants: Nobody Gives Power, You Must Fight for It

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has urged governorship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to prepare for tough political battles, stressing that power is never handed over freely.

Speaking after attending the 109th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the PDP at the party’s National Secretariat, Wadata House, Abuja, Wike said aspirants seeking elective positions must be ready to struggle and work hard for victory.

According to the former Rivers State governor, politics is a contest that requires determination, resilience, and commitment, noting that no one should expect power to be handed to them on a platter of gold.

“Nobody gives power, and nobody will dash anyone power. Whoever is seeking power must be ready to struggle for it,” Wike stated.

Drawing from his personal political journey, the FCT Minister recalled that even his bid for the chairmanship of a local government council was fiercely contested and eventually ended at the Supreme Court before he emerged victorious.

He said his experience taught him that political success comes through perseverance and a willingness to fight through challenges rather than relying on favoritism or entitlement.
