Ukwa LA Ngwa Council of Elders Condemn the Killing of Military Officers, Commiserate with Families and The Army

COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF EXECUTIVE MEETING OF UKWA LA NGWA COUNCIL OF ELDERS HELD AT THE HEADQUARTERS OF THE COUNCIL IN MBAWSI, ISIALA NGWA NORTH LGA, TODAY WEDNESDAY 5TH JUNE, 2024.

After a careful consideration of the agenda and deliberation of all matters arising therefrom, the Council agreed and resolved as follows:

1. That we condemn the dastardly act of killing military personnel by unknown persons at Obikabia junction, Umuola Okpulor Village in Aba North LGA of Abia State, on Thursday 30th of May, 2024.
2. That we commiserate with the bereaved families, the Army, and the Government of Abia State for the untimely demise of the departed military personnel amongst whom were our illustrious sons of Ukwa la Ngwa land.
3. That we commend the Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti OFR for his timely intervention and particularly his avowed promise to fish out the perpetrators of this heinous crime.
4. That we commend his genuine efforts at ensuring the provision of security for the lives and properties across the state and appeal to his administration and the federal government to extend development to Ukwa la Ngwa land.
5. That we implore the government to initiate and pursue a process that will always guarantee the peace, prosperity, and sustainable development of Abia State, particularly of Ukwa la Ngwa land, through periodic engagement with stakeholders.
