Engr. Akatobi, Kelechi Noble is a seasoned chemical engineer, academic researcher, and community leader with over two decades of professional and public service experience. He hails from Agburuike, Akpaa Mbato, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State and has consistently demonstrated excellence in engineering, leadership, and grassroots mobilization.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Chemical Engineering (Second Class Upper Division) from Enugu State University of Science and Technology, a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Environmental Management & Toxicology (Distinction), and a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Chemical Engineering (Distinction) from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU). He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemical Engineering at MOUAU, reflecting his commitment to continuous learning and innovation.
Professionally, Engr. Akatobi has served in both academia and industry. He is currently an Academic staff in the Department of Chemical Engineering, MOUAU, where he contributes to groundbreaking research in environmental sustainability, renewable energy, and advanced chemical Engineering processes. His industrial career spans leadership roles in Honeywell Oil & Gas Ltd., Fudia Petrochem Ltd., Grand Petroleum & Chemicals Ltd., and Lech Energy Resources Ltd., where he excelled in business development, sales engineering, and strategic specialty products market expansion. An expert in Machine Lubrication Technology. He also served as Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Abia State (Grassroots Mobilization), Personal Assistant to the Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Abia State, demonstrating his ability to connect with communities and drive inclusive development.
Engr. Akatobi is a registered member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers (NSChE), and Nigerian Institution of Facilities Engineering & Management (NIFEngM). His professional affiliations underscore his dedication to upholding engineering standards and advancing national development.
Beyond his academic and professional pursuits, he has actively contributed to community service. He currently serves as General Secretary of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Aba Branch, former General Secretary (South-East) of the Nigerian Institution of Facilities Engineering & Management (NIFEngM), Former Electoral Committee Chairman and Member First Constitution Drafting Committee of Agalaba People’s Forum (APF). His leadership in these organizations reflects his passion for empowering professionals and fostering regional growth.
Engr. Akatobi has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers on environmental management, renewable energy, and sustainable engineering solutions. He has also won research grants focused on bio-pesticide production and food technology innovations, further cementing his reputation as a problem-solver committed to practical solutions for Nigeria’s challenges.
A devoted family man, he is married to Engr. (Mrs.) Kelechi- Ihejiamaizu, Odochi Peace. His personal interests include football, reading, research, and Community Service, which reflect his balanced lifestyle and commitment to intellectual and physical well-being.
