Obingwa Youth Summit Launches Committees and Coordinators
An expanded meeting of the Obingwa Youths’ Summit (OYS) took place today, Monday, August 11, 2025, at Tomby’s Event Hall, located on New Umuahia Road in Aba, Osusuamaukwa, within the Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
The purpose of the event was to officially inaugurate the committees and coordinators of OYS throughout Obingwa L.G.A., focusing on empowering the local youth.
The session began with President Comr. Nwanjuobi Akubuodo Ogechi welcoming attendees and guests. He emphasized the importance of their roles and responsibilities, urging them to remain focused, diligent, and dedicated. “This noble cause will not tolerate a lack of focus, carelessness, negligence, or deceit. Those who do not meet expectations will be relieved of their duties,” Comr. Ogechi stated.
Following this, Barr. Prince Obinna Nwabiaraije administered the oath of office to the Coordinators and committee members, which include various committees focused on education, job support, entrepreneurship, agriculture, travel, technology, health awareness, sports, cultural activities, financial support, and intervention efforts. He encouraged them to act with integrity and resilience in their roles.
During the event, Miss Ahukanna Augustina Chidinma from Amavuru Ntighauzo presented an award to Hon. Peter Azubuike in appreciation of his dedicated service and humanitarian efforts. Hon. Azubuike also supported Miss Chidinma with ₦500,000 for her business and committed to funding training for interested youth in Obingwa pursuing a career in printing.
Evang. Emmanuel Josiah, Chairman of the Committee on Travels, along with Comr. Ifeanyi Nworu, presented two young women, Ihechi Uchenna and Evelyn Gabriel, who were recently repatriated from Libya with the help of Hon. Azubuike due to the dangers faced by Nigerians there. Each woman received ₦500,000 in business support, expressing heartfelt thanks to the Committee on Travels and Hon. Azubuike. They cautioned other youths about potential dangers in society, particularly regarding travel, and warned against being lured by promises of wealth, stating many have suffered upon seeking riches abroad.
Hon. Peter Azubuike, the facilitator of the OYS, expressed his sincere appreciation for the efforts and commitment of the OYS Executives in promoting the organization’s vision. He clarified that the OYS was established not for political gains but to enhance growth and development in Obingwa L.G.A. by empowering youth through skills acquisition and job opportunities. His aim is for at least 70% of the youth to achieve independence, thereby reducing dependence on political figures, which has contributed to their involvement in violence and criminal activities. He believes that equipping them with skills and jobs will create a positive ripple effect throughout the community.
The meeting was attended by various notable figures from the Obingwa Local Government Area, including Hon. Peter Azubuike, Comr. Nwanjuobi Akubuodo (President of OYS), Barr. Prince Obinna Nwabiaraije, Evang. Emmanuel Josiah, Hon. Bestman Eruba, and Hon. Chibuzor Nwogu.
