FORMER PDP WOMEN LEADER IN OBINGWA L.G.A SWITCHES TO LABOUR PARTY
The recent Women Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Obingwa L.G.A, Hon. Mrs. Ijeoma Ngozi, has officially transitioned to the Labour Party, accompanied by a group of devoted supporters.
Having previously served as the Deputy Chairman of Obingwa L.G.A, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi cited the tangible accomplishments of Governor Alex Otti and the effective leadership of local Labour Party figures, especially Hon. Peter Azubuike, as key factors in her decision.
During the reception ceremony, Hon. Peter Azubuike, the Chairman of Labour Party Stakeholders in Obingwa, welcomed the new members, assuring them of their full integration into the party. He highlighted the ongoing development in the area, including the 12.6km Ohanze–Ntighauzo–Obete–Umuoha–Oberete–Akirika Obu Road, as part of Governor Otti’s initiatives.
Hon. Azubuike encouraged the newcomers to actively support both the Labour Party and the Governor, promising they would not regret their choice.
In her speech, Hon. Ngozi expressed her decision to change political affiliation after observing the revitalization of previously neglected roads in Aba, such as Port Harcourt Road, Ohanku Road, and Cemetery Road. She asserted that the opposition lacks credible arguments against Governor Otti, labeling the Labour Party as “the moving train.”
She praised the leadership of Governor Otti and Hon. Peter Azubuike, affirming her commitment to the party. Hon. Mrs. Ngozi emphasized the importance of unity within the Labour Party in Obingwa and vowed to support the Governor, no matter his future decisions regarding the party.
The event also provided an opportunity for reconciliation, as Ngozi aimed to mend divisions among Labour Party factions in her ward.
Dignitaries in attendance included Hon. Maxwell Nwadike (Executive Chairman of Obingwa L.G.A), Dr. Isiguzo Destiny Chikwurah (Deputy Chairman of Obingwa L.G.A), Hon. Victoria Onwubiko (Managing Director, ABSAA), and Dr. Henry Ahukanna (SECLOG), among others.
