Governor Alex Otti Flags Off Reconstruction of 11.27km Mbala-Umuaku-Ngodo Road in Umunneochi
Governor Alex Otti has officially flagged off the reconstruction of the 11.27-kilometre Mbala-Umuaku-Ngodo Road in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State.
The road project is part of his administration’s ongoing commitment to infrastructure development, aimed at improving connectivity, easing transportation, and boosting economic activities in the region.
Speaking at the event on Wednesday , Governor Otti reaffirmed his dedication to delivering quality road networks across Abia State, emphasizing that the reconstruction will provide relief to residents, businesses, and commuters who have long suffered from the poor state of the road.
Your requests for government attention on other difficult road stretches across several communities in the LGA have been duly noted and within the limits of available resources, we shall continue to appropriate funds to support the transportation of people and goods across the local government. My assurance to our traditional rulers and presidents-general of town unions is that no community in Umunneochi and within the State at large shall be left behind in our accelerated development framework”
“Currently, we are retrofitting several primary healthcare facilities around the LGA under a special intervention project in the health sector codenamed Project Ekwueme. We have also pencilled down a reasonable number of primary and secondary schools in Umunneochi for remodelling under the AbiaFirst Education Transformation Programme which we just launched in Umuahia before coming here”
“In view of the significance of this local government area to our agricultural development agenda, taking cognisance of the cashew belt and other export-friendly agro commodities that are massively cultivated around this region, I am glad to inform this august gathering that Umunneochi has been selected as one of the three locations where we will site a multi- billion naira agro-industrial processing facility in this administration. Structured to radically transform the agricultural ecosystem in the State, the facility shall integrate production, aggregation and processing of agro-commodities for local consumption and export. It shall come with dedicated infrastructure including independent energy ecosystem” Governor Otti Said
The project is expected to enhance rural-urban integration and facilitate trade and development in Umunneochi and beyond.
