Obingwa: Arthur-Real & Associate Organizes Workshop for Newly Elected Councillors on Legislative Procedures

The Executive Chairman of Obingwa Local Government, Hon. Maxwell Nwadike, participated in a workshop aimed at educating newly elected councillors on legislative procedures, organized by Arthur-Real & Associate.

The consultant provided valuable insights into the legislative process, plenary procedures, the responsibilities of legislators, and the steps required to draft, enact, and transmit a bill into law through executive approval.

During the session, facilitator Hon. Enyeribe Ihekoronye Esq. emphasized the importance of adhering to the Constitution, which serves as the fundamental legal framework. He reminded the councillors that they must not pass any laws that contradict the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended in 1999. It was also highlighted that they should focus on legislative efforts that will enhance the local government while avoiding conflicts between the Executive and Legislature.

After the lecture, the Chairman praised the facilitator for his exceptional presentation and encouraged the new councillors to take the training seriously, as the knowledge gained would be invaluable throughout their terms and beyond. He urged them to approach their responsibilities with diligence and patriotism.

He concluded by stating that applying the knowledge acquired from the workshop would greatly benefit the councillors, as they are expected to enact laws that advance the local government.
