The Nigerian government has started meeting with key stakeholders in the education sector in its bid to meet the September deadline for starting a new curriculum for schools.
Minister of state for education, Yusuf Sununu at the latest meeting in Abuja, said the last review of the basic education curriculum was twelve years ago and there is urgent need to rejig the document with the huge advancement in technology.
Sumunu decried the fact that one out of every five children out of school is a Nigerian, the very reason the government is inculcating skills development into basic education curriculum, from primary school, starting in September 2024.
