Abia State Police Commissioner, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, praised the Abia state chapter of the Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN) for their active involvement and assured them of police support in fighting crime. During a visit to the Abia State Police Command Headquarters, CP Kenechukwu commended OMPAN for their role as society’s watchdog and urged them to focus on factual reporting and professionalism, especially in the online media. He emphasized the importance of their role in reaching a wider audience and offered the command’s partnership on information sharing and ensuring the safety of Abia State residents. OMPAN Chairman, Chief Promise Uzoma Okoro, expressed OMPAN’s commitment to helping the police combat fake news and crime, praising CP Kenechukwu’s leadership and the command’s successes in maintaining peace. He assured the commissioner of OMPAN’s professionalism and objective reporting, highlighting past successful collaborations between OMPAN and the police, including the apprehension of criminals.
