Hon. Ibe Nwoke Awakening the Political Consciousness of Obingwa Youths.

By Stanley Nwaokonko (Evergreen)

The People’s Democratic Party flag bearer for Chairmanship in Obingwa Local Government Hon. Ibe Michael Nwoke through his campaign tour has resuscitated the political consciousness of the Youths in Obingwa.

One of the great liabilities of history is that all too many people fail to remain awake through great periods of social change. Every society has its protectors of status quo and its fraternities of the indifferent who are notorious for sleeping through revolutions.

Today, our very survival depends on our ability to stay awake, to adjust to new ideas, to remain vigilant and to face the challenge of change.

Touring the political wards in Obingwa seeking for votes for the PDP Chairmanship flag bearer took a different dimension as the Youths in Obingwa has taken it upon themselves to deliver 99% in all their polling units in support of Hon. Nwoke. Youth voice is crucial to the overall effectiveness of service. Youth voice has a tremendous impact on political participation and program outcomes, both short term and long term. Youth involvement has moved forward. It is no longer seen as a rebellious act, the way it was a few decades ago.

Contributing; the Party flag bearer Hon. Nwoke Charge the Youths to get involved in government programs, informing them that this is youth o’clock in governance and we must not fail to display /provide the new age dividends of good governance to our people. He has lofty ideas/ packages for the youths and has reaffirmed of carrying the Youths and Elders along in his administration.

We most acknowledge the Governor Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu for giving the youths a sense of belonging, a chance to lead in various capacities. Today, over 70% of candidates are youths which cut across the chairmen, deputy chairmen and Councillors in all the Local Government in Abia State.

We all benefit by having young people exposed to the ‘way things are done’ in a democratic society. It’s time to tap the power of youth
